"My personal opinion is that [insert favorite giant financial services company] will disappear much sooner than most people think. At the senior level each of those organizations is a band of ambitious, self-interested people who currently think their best option is to stay within the machine that has made them so prosperous. It won't take many more examples of refugees-made-good for most of those corporate warriors to realise they can make more money outside the garden." - Dominic Sayers

Re: It’s Not Whether Google’s Threatened. It’s Asking Ourselves: What Commons Do We Wish For? - http://battellemedia.com/archive...
"And of course you are right. But surely the same could be said of the other evildoers? In the end they have all gone over to the dark side. Perhaps Google deserves some credit for having started out with good intentions and having hung on for longer than most." - Dominic Sayers

"Maybe Google is being "forced" to put up its own walled garden, although it doesn't appear to be kicking too hard against the traces in doing so. I have to agree with Jonah Stein and Brian S Hall that your original post sounds curiously old fashioned. Google as the defender of freedom? Get with it, grandad." - Dominic Sayers

"I've never used Hootsuite so I can't comment on that. In Tweetdeck, your tweets will be posted to whichever channels are selected at the top (the "From:" area). If you don't want a tweet to go to LinkedIn just make sure your LinkedIn account is not selected when you post it. It's also possible that your LinkedIn account is "listening" to your tweets. To check this, in LinkedIn hover on your name at the top right then choose Settings. You will see a link Manage Your Twitter Settings. If you click this then you can set LinkedIn to only repeat tweets that have #in in them." - Dominic Sayers

Re: Once Again, RSS Is Dead. But ONLY YOU Can Save It! - http://battellemedia.com/archive...
"Would be really sneaky if you could add a post to your feed that didn't appear in any other place. Then you'd know that responders really were reading the feed and not clicking on the link in the tweet. Anyway, +1 for RSS - it's web-friendly. Please don't restrict your content to a walled garden, however big." - Dominic Sayers

Re: Collaborative consumption and financial services - http://tekfin.com/2012...
"Ford would be disinclined to pre-equip cars for sharing because it might mean we needed fewer cars, and their business model is based on increasing car ownership and frequent car replacement. Which is not to say the idea is wrong; it's a great idea. But maybe even the auto industry is ripe for disruption. If Tata started producing shareable cars and invested heavily in an infrastructure to share them that would be interesting. If I was Boris Johnson, I'd be looking to set up Boris Cars given the success of the Boris Bike." - Dominic Sayers
